Centuries ago, Benjamin Franklin famously said this quote and while he was originally talking about fire safety in the 18th century, this could not be truer today.

Working as a physical therapist at On-Site Solutions Physical Therapy offers this unique perspective: the most effective injury care is the care that prevents the injury from happening in the first place.

In a traditional physical therapy setting, physical therapy is almost entirely reactive. Throughout my career, I have seen this pattern play out time after time. A patient comes through the door after months of built-up joint or muscle pain. They spent weeks pushing through minor stiffness that finally reached a breaking point. By the time I sit down with them for an evaluation, we aren’t just working on healing an injury, we’re helping them regain lost mobility, manage pain and rebuild their quality of life.

It was not until I started working at OSSPT that I truly experienced how much more powerful physical therapy is when it is proactive versus reactive. Instead of waiting for a patient to bring their symptoms to me, I get to step directly into their world where the movement happens. I spend time observing actual job duties in real time and watch how someone bends, carries or sits at their station. I get to catch their discomfort at “level one”. We do not have to wait for a doctor’s order or months of worsening pain. I get to screen them right then and there and offer immediate guidance and tweak their movement patterns before a minor ache turns into more.

I am proud to be part of the OSSPT team. A team that does not just wait around to fix what breaks but instead works every single day to protect the health, longevity and well-being of the people right in front of us.
