The 2023 ASSP Conference was a great success! We had amazing opportunities to discuss workplace injury prevention with leaders in a wide variety of industries, which allowed us to get a better understanding of what employers needs are. The flash sessions that we hosted had people lined up in the aisles wanted to listen to what we had to say about our innovative approach to injury prevention services. We explained how we go beyond traditional PT services and how PT is unique compared to other professions on the worksite. Lastly, we were able to enjoy a beautiful night at Casa Rio with great food and great conversation. View the article below to read more details.
Welcome to our blog! We are excited
to share our experience from the National ASSP Safety Conference 2023. During this year’s conference, we had
the valuable opportunity to:
- Connect with thought leaders from various industries to delve into the current health trends affecting workers.
- Engagement in these discussions allowed us to gain insights and understand concerns regarding the rising rates of injuries among employees.
- We explored strategies aimed at implementing effective injury prevention programs, taking into account the guidelines set by OSHA for first aid, and specifically addressing how physical therapy (PT) fits into these guidelines.
- We emphasized the importance of adopting strategies that go beyond traditional approaches like ART (Active Release Technique), as PTs possess the expertise to provide techniques beyond soft tissue mobilization, specializing in identifying the root cause of body movement issues. As healthcare professionals at the doctorate level, we possess the expertise to counsel on health, wellness, and address any related concerns.
“Your ‘WHAT’ Hurts? MSK Triage + Ergonomics in Action”
In addition to the valuable learning experience, we had the opportunity to lead a Flash Session. Melissa Gill and Kim Robinson, who facilitated the session, provided the attendees with valuable insights and actionable strategies regarding ergonomics and stretching techniques. The session drew a large crowd, with people even standing in the aisles due to the
high turnout. Our primary goal was to provide participants with practical solutions that they could implement in their workplaces, emphasizing the significance of proper ergonomics and effective stretching routines for enhancing well-being and reducing the risk of injuries. As an exciting bonus, participants actively engaged in the session had the chance
to win fun OSSPT swag items as part of a game.
