OSSPT Safety Week in Action: Turning Education into Real-World Impact

During Safety Week, OSSPT partnered with multiple job sites to deliver hands-on education focused on injury prevention, movement awareness, and practical strategies workers can apply immediately on the job. Across several locations, our physical therapists engaged craft workers and operators through interactive demonstrations designed to make safety concepts tangible and memorable.

At one site, a progressive balance challenge encouraged participants to test stability on an unstable surface while learning how balance and coordination directly impact fall risk and workplace safety. Workers received individualized exercise recommendations and entered a raffle to reinforce engagement through friendly competition.

At another location, OSSPT focused on heavy equipment safety and whole-body vibration exposure. Operators learned about safe ingress and egress mechanics, mobility requirements, and early warning signs of vibration-related conditions. A live grip strength challenge demonstrated how quickly strength can decline with vibration exposure, reinforcing the importance of fatigue awareness and safe operating practices.

Across a third site, programming centered on footwear, insoles, and whole-body alignment. Through a combination of clinical education and vendor collaboration, workers were able to trial supportive insoles, learn proper boot selection strategies, and understand how foot support influences the entire kinetic chain. The event also sparked a large-scale trade partnership, resulting in over 400 pairs of insoles being implemented for craft workers on site, extending the impact far beyond Safety Week.

Across all locations, the goal remained the same: make safety education interactive, practical, and directly connected to how people move and work every day.
